Local journal storage

Notes, transcripts, entries, summaries, questions, period stories, attachments, and settings are stored on your device. Vida does not provide its own cloud synchronization. Your operating system's backup settings may include app data in a device backup.

AI processing with your permission

With your explicit permission, relevant notes, transcripts, entries, summaries, related journal context, dates, language, and time zone are sent through Vida's API to OpenAI to organize entries, summarize them, and suggest questions and period stories. Journal text may contain personal or sensitive information you choose to write. Photo, video, and audio files are not sent for AI analysis. Speech transcription runs on your device using Apple's speech technology; speech models may need to be downloaded.

Operational information

Vida stores a random device-session identifier, token-verification information, usage counts, first-use timing, request identifiers, content digests, status/error information, and subscription product, transaction identifiers, expiration and verification status. Journal text and AI responses are not stored in Vida's database, job queue, or application logs. A response may be held briefly in server memory to handle a retry. Operational information is kept while the authentication session remains valid. Sessions expire after 30 days without renewal, and expired or revoked account metadata is periodically removed. An in-app deletion request removes ordinary device-account metadata and subscription ownership links and revokes sessions. A minimal subscription ledger retains Apple transaction identifiers, product, expiration/refund state and a hash of the account token for refund handling and replay prevention. Unlinked ledger records are periodically deleted 180 days after the later expiration or revocation timestamp. Notification deduplication identifiers are kept for 90 days. The ledger does not contain payment card details or journal text. Aggregate call counts and IP hashes used for rate limiting are handled separately for cost control and abuse prevention. No separate server snapshot backup is enabled at launch. Infrastructure providers may process basic connection information under their policies.

OpenAI and international processing

Vida uses Railway infrastructure in Singapore for API processing. Apple handles subscription payments; Vida does not receive card or bank account details.

OpenAI is a US-based provider. Consented text may be processed outside your country. API data is not used to train OpenAI models by default. We disable response storage, but OpenAI may retain inputs and outputs in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days by default, subject to legal and other policy exceptions. Local journal storage is not a promise of zero retention by every processor. See OpenAI's data controls.

Your choices

You can decline AI processing and continue to write locally. Revoke permission in Settings to stop future AI text requests. Data already processed remains subject to the provider's retention policy. Delete individual entries in the app or use the app-data deletion option in Settings. Server deletion requires a connection. Contact us for access, correction, or deletion requests without including private journal content in your email.

No advertising tracking

We do not sell journal content or track you for advertising. Vida is not designed for children. Policy changes will appear here and, when needed, in the app. Contact: quswnstjq93@gmail.com.
